Job Summary
Serves as a backup to ensure pricing integrity in store by maintaining and updating pricing and shelf tag information. Receives merchandise from outside vendors and assists with inventory control. Engages with customers, provides efficient checkout services as needed, locates products and conducts price verifications. Maintains proficiency regarding transactions and accuracy of tender.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Receives and verifies price tags by utilizing a handheld scanner to ensure proper item pricing at the store level. Assists with price corrections in the computer system as needed.
- Tears, sorts, and hangs price tags; ensures displays and shelves have accurate pricing and signage; removes and replaces shelf tags as needed. Verifies and applies price changes from ads, ad corrections, and discontinued clearance items.
- Ensures that computerized pricing maintenance is kept current and relevant information is preserved.
- Receives direct store delivery products such as soda, chips, alcohol, etc. Checks invoices for accuracy, resolves discrepancies, and assesses product for damage. Protects Company assets by properly securing and monitoring back doors.
- Checks inventory on trucks, unloads products, and ensures accuracy of inventory, product ordering, and associated paperwork.
- Monitors vendor activity by ensuring products are stocked correctly and advising vendors of necessary actions such as cleaning shelves and designated backroom areas.
- Ensures correct checkout totals for customers by properly weighing, keying, and scanning items. Maintains accurate money count in register at all times. Remains current on tender policies and procedures related to checks, credit, debit, coupons, EBT, WIC, AML, etc.
- Maintains friendly and customer-service-oriented attitude by greeting customers, answering questions, locating and promoting products, and responding to complaints.
- Ensures groceries are bagged properly by putting like items together, limiting bag weight, preventing food cross-contamination, and ensuring customer receipt of all purchased items.
- Maintains clean, safe and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to Company safety.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Basic knowledge of EPLUM enterprise scale management.
- Basic knowledge of SAP reporting applications.
- Basic knowledge of cash register.
- Basic knowledge of tender policies and procedures.
- Basic knowledge of all local, state, and federal laws regarding sales of restricted items such as tobacco, alcohol, and cannabis-based and pharmaceutical products.
- Basic mathematical and counting skills.
- Must be detail-oriented.
- Ability to safely operate pallet jack.
- Ability to read and operate digital equipment.
- Ability to maintain detailed records and accurately fill out forms or other documentation.
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and productivity.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to learn new technology systems, methods and processes.
- Ability to perform basic Microsoft Office functions.
- Ability to remain courteous with customers at all times.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications
- Minimum of 18 years of age required.
- Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.
- High school Diploma or GED required.
- Typically involves on-the-job training.
- TABC/LACT certification required where applicable.
