Job Summary

Operates a tractor/trailer to transport goods to and from Company retail stores. Follows safety practices and rules of the Company and Department of Transportation at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Transports inbound and outbound freight to retail stores and retail stores and Company distribution facilities.
  • Complies with tractor/trailer Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations at all times.
  • Monitors the loading and unloading of pallets onto truck to ensure proper count, accuracy, and safety.
  • Communicates with Dispatch Supervisors to receive/give notice of changes in delivery schedule. Reports any issues that occur.
  • Maintains accurate delivery logs and properly fills out correct times on trip sheets.
  • Completes pre and post-inspections of both tractor and trailer and fills out inspection reports accordingly.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Intermediate knowledge of state and federal motor vehicle laws.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to use DOT electronic logging device.
  • Ability to operate a pallet jack/forklift.
  • Ability to successfully complete mechanical aptitude and other maintenance related evaluations.
  • Ability to frequently travel to off-site and out-of-town locations with possible overnight stays.
  • Ability to work on-call and flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and productivity.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage time.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written or verbal form.
  • Ability to reason, form concepts, and recognize and solve problems.
  • Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret information.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • High school Diploma or GED and two or more years of related experience required.
  • Completion of vocational or technical school preferred.
  • Minimum of 25 years of age required.
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
  • Food Handler certification required.

  • Work is generally performed in a commercial motor vehicle.
  • Frequently exposed to outside temperatures and weather.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet, slippery, or damp conditions.
  • Moderate to loud noise level.
