Job Summary

Provides support of store equipment and performs support duties in the facilities services group during new builds, remodels, and store closures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operates forklift and motorized hand jacks to load/unload equipment.
  • Responsible for confirming accuracy of inbound/outbound truckloads through manifests, packing slips, work orders, or related paperwork.
  • Dismantles equipment and separates for recycling.
  • Stages equipment for shipment.
  • Responsible for general housekeeping inside and outside of warehouse, parking lot, and storage area.
  • Responsible for breakdown and reclamation of refrigeration equipment, cases, condensers, motor room racks, air conditioners, and other specialized equipment.
  • Pulls, packs, and ships furniture, office equipment, fixtures, shelving cases, walk-in cooler panels, and other equipment in support of daily store and store merchandising projects.
  • Responsible for daily security of warehouse stored assets.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable rules and regulations of government agencies.
  • Implements, enforces, and complies with Brookshire Grocery Company policies and procedures.

  • Intermediate knowledge with all types material handling equipment.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery/ hazardous equipment.
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.
  • Ability to research information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to learn new technology systems, methods and processes.
  • Ability to reason, form concepts and recognize and solve problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.

  • Ability to occasionally travel to off-site and out-of-town locations with possible overnight stays.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work on-call and flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • May be required to drive in accordance with the BGC Driver policy.
  • Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard as soon as is reasonably possible.
  • Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 21 years of age required.
  • High school Diploma or GED and two or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required.
  • Associate Degree in related field preferred.
  • Forklift certification preferred.

  • Occasionally required to use hands for reaching, touching or handling.

  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop or crawl.

  • Work is generally performed in a warehouse environment.
