Job Summary

Provides planning and design support services to project teams throughout the Company. Assists in the production of planning documents for new, remodel, and re-image improvement projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts facility assessments through job site visits, verifying “as-built” conditions. Evaluates existing buildings to be remodeled by performing on-site measurements and surveys.
  • Prepares supplemental drawings to be routed for pricing and change orders.
  • Reviews codes and ordinances. Assists in submitting documentation to ensure compliance with local, state, and national standards. Maintains product submittal reviews, close-out documentation, record drawings, and other pertinent project information.
  • Obtains input for new, acquisitions, and remodel projects from planning leadership to assist in development of new store designs, construction documents, and specifications as required for project construction.
  • Collaborates with planning, merchandising, and project management teams to prepare store layout plans.
  • Assists various departments with interpretation of plans, design compliance issues and solutions, and project/repair permitting processes.
  • Codes, verifies, and approves department invoices and expenses.
  • Pursues continuing education through seminars and research of new products, technologies, process improvements, and industry trends.
  • Employs scanning technologies to aid in the creation of as-built drawings for currently and newly acquired facilities.
  •  Collaborates with merchandising and purchasing to define equipment specifications for company facilities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Intermediate knowledge of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Intermediate knowledge of the AutoCAD and Revit programs and design tools.
  • Intermediate knowledge of design software: Flexi, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Intermediate mathematical skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of scanning tools and equipment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Access, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret equipment and product specifications, business and professional journals, and technical procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
  • Ability to research information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to learn new technology systems, methods and processes.
  • Ability to reason, form concepts and recognize and solve problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to show information in presentation or diagram form.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Ability to frequently travel to off-site and out-of-town locations with possible overnight stays.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to use knives/ box cutters.
  • May be required to drive in accordance with the BGC Driver policy.
  • Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard as soon as is reasonably possible.
  • Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field and two or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required.
  • Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.
