Financial Systems Support Specialist

Job Summary

Conducts business process analyses to align technology solutions with business initiatives; writes, tests, and modifies programming codes as necessary. Utilizes various financial software applications to design and prepare financial reports for Company leadership. Monitors period end processes to ensure accuracy of data and makes corrections where needed. Identifies and resolves complex system/process issues. Designs and improves new processes to increase efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyzes business problems and documents business requirements for multiple business functions.
  • Consults with management and personnel to identify and document business needs and objectives, current operational procedures, problems, input and output requirements, data scope, usage, formatting, and security requirements.
  • Leads the identification assessment and resolution of complex issues and escalates them appropriately.
  • Serves as a lead on identifying and resolving complex issues and delivers system solutions (e.g. configuration, testing, deployment, validation).
  • Plan and manage multiple small to medium-sized projects.
  • Provides technical assistance in identifying, evaluating, and developing systems and procedures.
  • Coordinates and implements plans to test business and functional processes during system development and quality assurance testing.
  • Leverage deep understanding of customers' business to proactively identify and prioritize opportunities to streamline business and/or system processes.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
  • Creates user documentation, instructions, and procedures.
  • Develops, prepares, and conducts training for personnel on computer hardware and software usage.
  • May lead and direct the work of other analysts and operates with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
  • Responsible for ensuring accuracy of financial data and compiling information into daily retail sales reconciliation reports for Company leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Uses judgement to determine best course of action for correcting errors found during soft close.
  • Utilizes budgeting and reporting software systems to create, maintain, and distribute various financial reports related to sales, profit, store performance, cash over/short, etc.
  • Works closely with cross-functional financial areas to provide financial reports and analysis to support more efficient and accurate processes.
  • Performs and monitors period end system closing and processing procedures for department.
  • Works with accounting department to provide direction regarding processing of entries made after soft system close.
  • Consults and coordinates with team members to design, develop, and code programming systems and automated business systems.
  • Proactively identifies and prioritizes opportunities to streamline business systems processes.
  • Verifies/maintains SAP reporting hierarchies necessary to maintain accurate system reports and escalates issues appropriately.
  • Gathers, compiles, and provides monthly financial reports to upper management.
  • Works to learn and design new processes and procedures within new systems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient with relational database concepts and client-server concepts.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Access, Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, and database management and reporting.
  • Ability to review, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Intermediate knowledge of financial reporting and analysis programs.
  • Intermediate knowledge of software systems used for the purpose of planning, forecasting and budgeting.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SAP reporting and transactional applications.
  • Intermediate mathematical skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and analyze complex technical information.
  • Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; and interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Ability to learn new technology systems, methods and processes.
  • Ability to reason, form concepts and recognize and solve problems.

  • Ability to show information in presentation or diagram form.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form with company leaders, managers, and employees.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.

  • Ability to analyze and resolve difficult and complex problems.

  • Ability to manage projects/processes, with limited supervision.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field and five to seven or more years of related experience required.
  • Minimum of 21 years of age required.

  • Frequently required to use fine finger movements (ex. sorting and typing).
  • Frequently required to sit for long periods of time.
