Job Summary

Ensures ice and related products are wrapped, palletized, and placed in the warehouse in a safe and efficient manner. Monitors and maintains ice equipment and ensures that issues are corrected within a timely manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitors and maintains equipment used for palletizing and bagging ice.
  • Operates/drives a forklift to move product throughout the warehouse.
  • Performs routine maintenance on all ice production equipment. Ensure equipment is up to date regarding Company and food safety standards.
  • Monitors and fixes issues of the bagging machines and palletizers. Ensures issues are corrected in a timely manner.
  • Provides feedback to leadership with suggestions for increasing production.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to operate a forklift or pallet jack.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret information.
  • Ability to learn new technology systems, methods, and processes.
  • Ability to reason, form concepts, and recognize and solve problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written or verbal form.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage time.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery or hazardous equipment.
  • Ability to use knives/box cutters.
  • Ability to use precision hand tools.
  • Ability to occasionally travel to off-site and out-of-town locations with possible overnight stays.
  • Ability to work on-call and flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • May be required to drive in accordance with the BGC Driver policy.
  • Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard as soon as is reasonably possible.
  • Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • High school Diploma or GED and two or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Continuously required to use close vision, distance vision, depth perception or the ability to focus.
  • Frequently required to talk and hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands for reaching, touching or handling.
  • Frequently required to use fine finger movements (ex. sorting and typing).
  • Frequently required to push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 75 lbs.
  • Frequently required to bend, kneel or squat.
  • Frequently required to climb, balance, stoop or crawl.
  • Frequently required to stand or walk.
  • Occasionally required to sit for long periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to stand for long periods of time.
  • Attendance at work is required.

Work Context and Environment

  • Work is generally performed in the Ice Production Room. (Temperatures range from 8◦-45◦)
  • Frequently exposed to extreme cold conditions (non-weather).
  • Frequently exposed to extreme heat conditions (non-weather).
  • Frequently exposed to wet, slippery or damp conditions.
  • Frequently exposed to outside temperatures and weather.
  • Frequently exposed to industrial odors, fumes and dust.
