Printing Press Operator

Job Summary

Operates various printing presses including offset, letter press and web machines. Supports print shop by performing additional tasks such as generating stock cutting requests and printing commercial point-of-sale materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Serves as a printing press operator which includes pre-press, stock and trimming jobs.
• Performs maintenance on print shop machines (offset and digital).
• Generates stock cutting requests from print shop job tickets.
• Prints commercial and point-of-sale material which includes producing color process jobs according to assigned store schedules.
• Mounts plates, selects paper stocks to print specialized jobs. Cleans press machines accordingly.
• Unloads incoming stock from delivery trucks. Transports to appropriate area.
• Performs various print shop duties as assigned.

• Basic mathematical skills required.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Ability to comprehend and interpret information.

• Ability to reason, form concepts, and recognize and solve problems.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written or verbal form.
• Ability to organize, prioritize and manage time.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
• Ability to use knives, box cutters and precision hand tools.
• Ability to operate a fork lift/pallet jack and other hazardous equipment.
• Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard as soon as is reasonably possible.
• Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and higher education required.
• Minimum of 18 years of age required.
• Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.
• Associate's degree in related field preferred.

Physical Demands

• Occasionally required to sit, climb, stand or balance.
• Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, lift or squat.
• Frequently required to reach, touch, handle, push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 75 pounds.
• Frequently required to talk or hear.
• Continuously required to use fine finger movements (ex. typing or sorting).
• Continuously required to use close vision, distance vision, depth perception or the ability to adjust focus.
• Attendance at work is required.

Work Context and Environment

• Occasionally exposed to outside temperatures and weather.
• Work is generally performed in an office/warehouse setting.
• Noise level varies.
