Job Summary

Coordinates and reports for ongoing refrigeration, HVAC, and EMS projects. Conducts store audits and provides support for equipment, suppliers, and training processes.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs regular refrigeration audits, surveys, and store evaluations.
  • Assesses condition of equipment for repair, replacement, or refurbishment.
  • Coordinates, documents, and commissions HVAC/R/EMS special projects. Conducts existing store HVAC/R/EMS controls and lighting commissioning.
  • Supports the performance and quality of HVAC/R/EMS programs through supplier audits and feedback.
  • Supplies information and support to upper management and various Company leaders for supplier performance evaluations.
  • Supports and trains in multiple capacities, including service and technical field support.
  • Performs routine maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC equipment as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Intermediate knowledge of multiple types and designs of refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer-based environmental and refrigeration controls.
  • Intermediate knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems in retail store facilities.
  • Ability to analyze building and equipment control systems for diagnostics and optimization of equipment conditions.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to review, analyze, and interpret documents such as plans, invoices, general business periodicals, safety rules, procedure manuals, and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to learn new technology systems, methods and processes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form with Company leaders, partners, vendors, and sub-contractors.
  • Ability to use knives/box cutters.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery/ hazardous equipment.
  • Ability to operate a fork lift/pallet jack.
  • Ability to use precision hand tools.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Access, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret information.
  • Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to research information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to reason, form concepts and recognize and solve problems.
  • Ability to occasionally travel to off-site and out-of-town locations with possible overnight stays.
  • May be required to drive in accordance with the BGC Driver policy.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • High school Diploma or GED required. 
  • Four or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required.
  • Completion of vocational or technical school preferred.
  • EPA Supermarket Certification required.
  • Industrial Refrigeration Operator Certification preferred.

  • Work is generally performed in a variety of environments, including walk-ins, electrical rooms, rooftops, and parking lots.
  • Frequently exposed to wet, slippery or damp conditions.
  • Frequently exposed to outside temperatures and weather.
  • Occasionally exposed to extreme cold conditions (non-weather).
  • Occasionally exposed to cleaning agents.
  • Occasionally exposed to industrial odors, fumes and dust.
  • Occasionally exposed to heights.
  • Occasionally exposed to confined spaces (ex. air vents, crawl spaces).
  • Noise level varies.
