Job Summary

Supports Category Management and eCommerce teams to facilitate all aspects of assigned online merchandising processes, process flows, data quality, marketing strategy, and overall accuracy of the eCommerce site. Responsible for managing online item integrity, while maintaining and building relationships with the Category Management, supplier community, and eCommerce teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with data integrity and managing day-to-day flow of information between Category Management teams, eCommerce teams, and Third-Party Services. Assigned categories would include all product categories across all banners.  
  • Performs ongoing analysis of online item accuracy, new items, discontinued items, and seasonal item focus.
  • Identifies and resolves item issues that block items from active online sale.
  • Helps manage conversion of image and item detail platform to new platform.
  • Recommends online merchandising strategies, including seasonal, new items, and item affinity suggestions.
  • Studies market analysis of consumer trends, competitive sites, best practices, and changing demographics to develop online merchandising strategies.
  • Coordinates with category manager(s) to establish product assortment for online availability.
  • Plans online merchandising to ensure timing and products are aligned with Category Management selling strategies.
  • Monitors and validates electronic data files submitted by Category Management personnel.
  • Coordinates the preparation, development, and execution of online advertising vehicles up to the point the information is provided to the marketing department.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert in assigned categories and assists retail stores with all online category management integrity issues.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of assigned category products and vendors.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SAP reporting applications preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Access, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Intermediate mathematical skills.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with vendors and peers.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate with vendors.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to show information in presentation or diagram form.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret information.
  • Ability to reason, form concepts and recognize and solve problems.
  • Ability to research information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Ability to learn new technology systems, methods and processes.
  • Ability to occasionally travel to off-site and out-of-town locations with possible overnight stays.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • May be required to drive in accordance with the BGC Driver policy.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Associates degree in related field and five or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required.

  • Work is generally performed in an office environment with occasional visits to retail stores and Company warehouse.
